Held in ITB, Indonesian Varsities English Debate 2010 had totally burned the spirit of many varsity debaters as well as STAN’s. This national debate competition was conducted on January 15-23, 2010, with 72 participating teams.

STAN sent its delegates consisting of two teams and two adjudicators. Each team consisted of three debaters. Team A were Teddy Triatmojo (from D-IV program), Danang Widhi Nugroho (from D-III Accounting), and Tifara Ashari (from D-III Tax Administration). Team B were Andreas Rossi Dewantara, Dimas Dwi Janarko, and Setya Pambudi (all from D-III Tax Administration). And the adjudicators were Talisa Noor and Walissa Tanaya (from D-III Accounting).

The result? Team A got into the Quarter Final, beating UNDIP in the previous Octo Final round, while Walissa Tanaya made it through to became the breaking adjudicator. All squad got a precious experience, definitely. This competition had created a good learning atmosphere. We are glad to participate in IVED 2010, and make sure we’ll break legs in the next competition!

Oh, and congratulation to ITB as the IVED 2010 Champion!

Innauguration Night STAN EC 2009

 “There’s  always room for improvement…”

This year, the STAN EC has worked hard to reach what could be acknowledged as improvement. From establishing a new ministry to adding extra programs into its yearly schedule, STAN EC, as a whole, has tried to make this year a good one, and one that they can look back on without too many regrets.

One of the innovations this year is the Intensive Open Recruitment. In the past years, the open recruitment was done through an interview to determine whether or not the individual was worthy of STAN EC membership or not. But this year, a more intensive and elaborate method was proposed. The goal was to gain more members who were really committed to the club.

The Intensive Open Recruitment was divided into three events: First Gathering, ANT (Avid New Trainee – sort of new bee’s fancy nickname, ed)’s Training, and ANT’s Inauguration. The first gathering was held on the 1st of November as an opening event for the whole program. A huge amount of students came and we were quite overwhelmed, even though 25% of the amount of students who signed up couldn’t be present that day. The five-week training breezed by after that. It was a combination of half planned, half improvised, training schemes that really absorbed all the cooperation and effort of the current officers and members of STAN EC.

The Last Event, ANT’s Inauguration, was held on the 19th and 20th of December, exactly a day after the formal interview to determine who was worthy to follow this event. It was the final event, held especially for the official declaration of acceptance as a member for the ANT’s who were able to be consistent and hard-working, right until the end. The location for this event was Situgintung Park, Tangerang. There, the ANT’s had to go through a couple of programs, with a semi “boot-camp” theme, just to build a momentum for the final program: their inauguration. The programs were as following:

1. Final Offspring debate

2.  ANT’s Performance

3. Games
